Tucson Padres News Release
The Tucson Padres extended their winning streak to four games Monday by defeating the Oklahoma City RedHawks 7-5 at Kino Stadium. The win moved the Padres to within three games of the Pacific Southern Division lead.
For the second consecutive night the Padres batted around in the first inning, with Tucson scoring four runs in the opening frame Monday. Daniel Robertson drove in the first run with a triple to center, followed by a sacrifice fly from Dean Anna. Chris Robinson's two-run single with two outs brought around the final runs of the inning. The Padres scored three times in the third to extend their lead to 7-0. Robinson recorded his third RBI of the game in that inning on a force out that scored Ben Francisco from third.
Jonathan Singleton's two-run single in the sixth scored the RedHawks first runs of the night. Oklahoma City added three runs in the eighth, highlighted by Brandon Laird's two-run homer over the left field bullpen. The RedHawks had the go-ahead run at the plate with two outs in ninth, but Miles Mikolas was able to strike out Singleton to end the game. The save was Mikolas' 23rd of the season, third best in the PCL.
Robbie Erlin earned his seventh win for Tucson after scattering seven hits, two runs and three walks in seven innings. Padres starting pitching has allowed only four runs in their last 25.1 innings. Oklahoma City's Paul Clemens was charged with the loss after surrendering seven runs on eight hits in 5.1 innings.
Next Game: Tuesday, 7:05 p.m. vs. Oklahoma City (Astros affiliate) - Oklahoma City RHP Asher Wojciechowski (7-5, 3.18) vs. Tucson RHP Matt Andriese (1-5, 4.14). Game coverage begins at 6:55 pm on 1290 AM The Source and tucsonpadres.com.
