Tucson, Ariz. - The Tucson Padres jumped out to a seven-run lead through three innings and held off a fight from the Oklahoma City RedHawks to win 7-5 before 1,620 Monday night at Kino Stadium.

With the loss, the RedHawks (69-54) have dropped four of five on their current road trip and have lost three straight games for the first time since June 23-25.

The Padres (64-59) wasted no time, putting four runs on the board in the first inning. With a runner at first and none out, Daniel Robertson sent a soft line drive to shallow center field. George Springer attempted to make a diving catch but missed, as the ball rolled all the way to the wall for an RBI triple. Robertson then scored on a sac fly by Dean Anna to make it 2-0.

With runners at second and third and two out, the RedHawks elected to intentionally walk Scott Moore in order to face Chris Robinson. Robinson then sent a two-run single into right field to extend the lead to 4-0.

Tucson added three more in the third, taking advantage of two Oklahoma City errors and pushed the lead to 7-0. The RedHawks had committed just one error in their previous nine games combined.

The RedHawks were able to break through in the sixth after a nice two-out rally. After having none on, the RedHawks strung three straight hits together, including a two-run single by Jon Singleton to make it 7-2.

The comeback continued in the eighth with three more runs. Brandon Laird launched a two-run homer, and Che-Hsuan Lin provided a two-out RBI single to pull the RedHawks within two runs at 7-5.

With two runners still on base, Tucson reliever Kevin Quackenbush got Trevor Crowe to ground out and end the inning.

The RedHawks threatened again in the ninth. Jimmy Paredes and Laird each collected singles to put the tying runs on base with one out. However, Padres closer Miles Mikolas retired the next two batters to seal the victory and earn his 23rd save.

Tucson received a strong start from Robbie Erlin (4-3), who allowed two runs and seven hits over seven innings. The lefty struck out four and walked three.

Paul Clemens battled through 5.1 innings after the rocky start and was saddled with his first loss with the RedHawks. Clemens (2-1) allowed seven runs (five earned), eight hits, and three walks. For the second straight start, he did not register a strikeout.

Clemens did finish strong, though, retiring eight of his final nine hitters. He and reliever Eric Berger combined to hold the Padres scoreless with just one hit after falling in the 7-0 hole.

The RedHawks will look to break their losing skid when they meet the Padres at 9:05 p.m. central time. Live coverage begins at 8:35 p.m. on AM 1340 "The Game," 1340thegame.com, or through the free IHeartRadio mobile app.
