River Cats Beat Express 5-3, Gray Wins 10th

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. - Right-hander Sonny Gray (10-7, 3.38 ERA) earned his 10th win of the season, leading the River Cats past the Round Rock Express 5-3 on Saturday night in front of a sellout crowd of 14,014 at Raley Field.

Gray is now tied with fellow teammates Bruce Billings and Andrew Werner and Nashville Sounds Johnny Hellweg, for most wins in the Pacific Coast League.

The Express took an early 1-0 lead in the second inning on a single down the left-field line by Alex Buchholz scoring Joey Butler. The River Cats responded in the fifth with a solo home run by newcomer Jake Goebbert.

In the sixth inning, the River Cats took the lead scoring four-runs on bases-loaded walks to Andy Parrino and Jemile Weeks and a two-run single by Hiro Nakajima.

The Express closed the gap adding two-runs in the seventh inning on run-scoring singles by Chris McGuiness and Leury Garcia.

River Cats righty Kyler Newby (1-0, 3.86 ERA) recorded his first save of the season. Both Gray and Express starter Josh Lindblom (8-2, 2.39 ERA) threw 97 pitches, the loss was charged to Lindblom.

Manny Ramirez returned to Raley Field as an Express and went 1-for-4 with a single. When Ramirez played with the River Cats from May 19-June 14, 2012, he posted a .302 batting average with 19 hits in 17 games played.

With the Las Vegas 51s losing to the Memphis Zephyrs 4-3, the River Cats are now tied with the 51s for first place in the Pacific Southern Division.

The River Cats continue their match up against the Express on Nick Swisher Bobblehead Giveaway Night, when right-hander Bruce Billings (10-5, 4.23 ERA) takes on righty Scott Richmond on Sunday at 6:05 p.m. at Raley Field during the Players Wives' Food Drive.
