Reno Aces News Release
NEW ORLEANS, LA. - New Orleans rode an impressive outing by starter Brad Hand, and came away with a 5-1 victory Sunday night against Reno.
The Zephyrs picked up a single run in both the first and fourth innings. Outfielder Bryan Peterson and infielder Chris Valaika each recorded RBI doubles, and gave New Orleans a 2-0 lead.
In the seventh, New Orleans added an additional run on a bases-loaded walk by Reno's Chase Anderson, and extended their lead to three runs.
The Aces would later enter the ninth, in hopes of avoiding the shutout, and Matt Davidson finally got Reno on the board with an RBI double. RHP Josh Wall would end the Aces attempt at a comeback however, and finished off the Zephyrs 5-1 victory.
LHP Brad Hand delivered a stellar outing for New Orleans, as he held Reno to only one hit over six shutout innings. Over the course of his start, Hand also tallied an impressive 11 strikeouts.
RHP Nate Adcock was solid for the Aces despite the loss, as he allowed 3 ER in 6.2 IP to the Zephyrs.
Tomorrow the Aces continue their four-game series in New Orleans. RHP Trevor Cahill (0-1, 5.06 ERA) will get the nod for Reno, in another Major League rehab start for the Arizona Diamondbacks, while the Zephyrs will counter with RHP Jay Jackson (1-1, 5.50 ERA). First pitch is set for 5:00 p.m. PT, and all of the action can be heard live on KPLY 630 AM.
Reno returns home on Thursday, August 8, for an eight-game homestand. Tickets are available for all remaining Aces home games at RenoAces.com, by calling (775) 334-7000 or by visiting the Aces Ballpark Ticket Office.
