TACOMA, Wash. -- Hector Noesi's six shutout innings guided the Tacoma Rainiers to a 5-0 win over the Iowa Cubs at Cheney Stadium on Saturday. The victory snaps a season-high seven-game losing skid for Tacoma.

Noesi limited Iowa to five hits and struck out five with two walks issued on the way to collecting his third win in his seventh start with the Rainiers this season. Right-handed relievers Chance Ruffin (1.0 IP) and Carter Capps (2.0 IP) combined to deliver three scoreless innings of work out of the bullpen to seal the win.

Tacoma posted their first lead in six days after tallying two runs in the first inning. Ty Kelly advanced to third on a single hit by Franklin Gutierrez, and then scored on a fielding error committed by left fielder Dave Sappelt. First baseman Jesus Montero plated Gutierrez with an RBI single three batters later.

Montero drove in his second run of the series opener and stretched Tacoma's lead to 3-0 after delivering a sac fly in the fourth inning. Kelly plated Abraham Almonte with an RBI single in the fifth, and Brandon Bantz added a fifth and final run after plating Carlos Peguero with another RBI single in the eighth.

Tacoma's lineup combined to collect 11 hits, led by the outfielder Peguero's 3-for-5 effort. Kelly and Bantz each turned in two-hit performances. Kelly has now hit safely in each of his last eight games.

The Rainiers (61-54) look to pick up back-to-back victories when they host the second game of the club's foru-game series with Iowa (51-64) at 1:30 p.m. tomorrow, August 4th. Seattle Mariners top pitching prospect Taijuan Walker (2-1, 3.09) is slated to start for Tacoma against I-Cubs right-hander Jake Arrieta (1-2, 4.03).
