SALISBURY, MD - Ademar Rifaela's two-run home run in the third inning, and a 3-4 night from Alex Murphy helps lead the Shorebirds to victory 6-2 over the Lexington Legends on Saturday night at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium.

For the second night in a row, the Shorebirds struck early. After back-to-back singles by Alex Murphy and Ademar Rifaela, Steve Laurino grounded into a fielders choice, but Murphy scored due to a throwing error on Lexington's Marten Gasparini. Singles by Drew Turbin, Cedric Mullins, and Ricardo Andujar allowed three more runs to cross, and the Shorebirds batted around to open a 4-0 lead after two.

Alex Murphy once again singled to lead off the third, and Ademar Rifaela followed by blasting a two-run home run to right center, going an estimated 428 feet. The round tripper was Rifaela's 10th of the season and it proved to be all the Shorebirds needed in the game.

Reid Love (8-10), was supurb on Saturday, going six innings, allowing only three hits and one run while striking out three. Love was in command the entire evening, not allowing Lexington to get anything together offensively. A.J. Puckett (1-3), took the loss for the Legends.

Lexington's only run off of Love was in the fifth, when Ben Johnson doubled to left field, scoring Travis Maezes.

Robert Strader came on in relief of Love, allowing no runs and no hits over two and a third innings. Christian Turnipseed pitched the ninth, and Lexington added a run on a Colton Frabasilio single, scoring Chase Vallot.

Delmarva (66-64, 24-37) looks to secure the sweep tomorrow over the Legends (49-82, 24-38).

The series concludes on Sunday evening between Delmarva and Lexington at 5:05. Listen to the broadcast live on Fox Sports AM 960.
