Augusta 5 Rome 3 Withrow Does Rehab Assignment

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves were defeated by the Augusta GreenJackets 5-3 Sunday afternoon at State Mutual Stadium before a crowd of 2,069. Rome holds on, by the slimmest of margins, to a half game lead in the South Atlantic League Southern Division over Augusta.

It was an RBI single by John Polonius in the second inning giving Augusta a 1-0 lead but Rome made it a 2-1 game in the third thanks to a two run single by Austin Riley. The GreenJackets crossed the plate four times in the fourth on a run scoring single by Seth Harrison and a three run double by Polonius. Lucas Herbert lined a single to left in the bottom of the fourth to plate a run inching the Braves a run closer at 5-3.

Domenic Mazza (7-3) gets the win going five innings allowing five hits and two earned runs. Max Fried (8-7) is hit with the loss going six innings surrendering four hits and three earned runs while striking out ten Augusta batters. Ryan Koziol (7) gets the save for the GreenJackets. ROSTER UPDATE: Atlanta Braves RHP Chris Withrow was added to the roster just prior to the game as part of a major league baseball rehab assignment.
