Six Run Lead Gives Augusta 7-2 Win

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves fell to the Augusta GreenJackets 7-2 Saturday night at State Mutual Stadium before a crowd of 5,005. Augusta pulls to within a game and a half of Rome's lead in the South Atlantic League Southern Division.

The GreenJackets scored three runs in the first inning. Rome starter Williams Perez loaded the bases and the first run scored on a wild pitch. Jean Angomas later added an RBI single and a bases loaded walk made it a 3-0 game. In the second, Augusta added three more runs for the 6-0 score as Bryan Reynolds had an RBI single and later scored on Matt Winn's base hit. Angomas added an RBI groundout. Rome would score in the sixth on Ray-Patrick Didder's ground out to plate a run for the 6-1 score. The Braves added another run in the seventh on Jared James' RBI triple. The GreenJackets scored another run in the ninth and held on for the 7-2 final.

Raffi Vizcaino (1-0) earns the win going seven innings allowing four hits and two runs while Perez gets the loss (0-1). Perez, who was on a rehab assignment, pitched three innings and gave up six earned runs and seven hits.
