Red Hot Weller Reassigend To Bingo

Elmira Jackals News Release

The Elmira Jackals, proud member of the ECHL, announced today that the Ottawa Senators (NHL) have reassigned left wing Shawn Weller from Elmira to the Binghamton Senators (AHL). Additionally, center Scott May has rejoined the Jackals after two separate American Hockey League stints with Binghamton and the Manitoba Moose.

Weller heads back to Binghamton on a current three-game point and goal scoring streak that has lifted his season totals to four goals and five assists for nine points, tied for sixth in team scoring. Last Friday, Weller scored once and set up three other Jackals goals in a 4-0 win over Trenton, added a goal in Saturday's 4-1 victory over Reading, and finished the weekend with the team's only strike in regulation before adding a shootout goal in helping Elmira extend their winning streak to six with a 2-1 decision over Columbia.

Weller's offensive emergence has coincided with being placed on a line with center Brett Pilkington and right wing Bobby Robins as the trio combined for ten points in the win over Trenton November 23rd.

May returns to the Jackals after an extended stay in the American Hockey League. Starting the season with Elmira, May picked up five points (3+2=5) in three games with the Jackals to help the club off to a 2-0-0-1 start before being summoned to Binghamton (AHL) October 27th.

May was pointless with an even +/- in one game with the Senators before immediately heading to Winnipeg and joining the Manitoba Moose (AHL) on October 28th where he had been for nearly one month. With the Moose, May totaled two points, both assists, with no penalty minutes and even +/- rating.

A fourth year pro, May has scored nine goals to go along with 12 assists for 21 points in 90 career American Hockey League appearances.

Elmira looks to extend its season-high six-game winning streak tonight in Dayton, OH, against the Bombers at 7 p.m. at the Nutter Center on the campus of Wright State University. The Jackals then conclude a 13-game in 20-day stretch tomorrow night in Cincinnati against the Cyclones at 7:30 p.m. Both games can be heard live on MAGIC FM (92.7/97.7) beginning 30 minutes prior to game time each night with the Hill Top Inn Countdown to Face-Off.

The Jackals are then off until Wednesday, December 5th, when they host the Trenton Devils at First Arena in a 7:05 p.m. face-off. Tickets for all Jackals home games may be purchased in person at the Gray Street box office at First Arena (10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday), Ticketmaster charge-by-phone at 722-3711, on-line at www.ticketmaster.com, and by calling 734-PUCK (7825).
