Falcons Fall to Grizzlies 7-2

Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons saw their two-game winning streak come to an end on Monday in a 7-2 loss to the Utah Grizzlies in front of 2,667 fans at Save Mart Center.

Utah scored three first-period goals to race out to a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes. Keith Johnson tallied twice, while Scott Burt added a power-play goal at the 18:46 mark to give the Grizzlies the early lead.

The Grizzlies extended the lead to 5-0 on goals from Andy Sertich and Olivier Labelle in the second period.

The Falcons got on the board in the final minute of the second period with a power-play goal. P.O. Beaulieu took a shot from the left point, which was deflected in front by Brett Hemingway at 19:01, making it 5-1 after two periods.

Jarrett Konkle tallied a 5-on-3 power-play goal 3:09 into the third period to pull the Falcons within two, but that was as close as they would get, as the Grizzlies added two more goals midway through the period to set the final.

Fresno concludes its four-game home stand on Friday, hosting the Bakersfield Condors at 7:30

p.m. It's the eighth annual Teddy Bear Toss, presented by Gottschalk's. All fans are asked to bring a new teddy bear or stuffed animal to game, and toss it on the ice following the Falcons first goal. All toys collected will benefit Toys For Tots. The first 2,000 fans in attendance receive a Falcons pennant courtesy of Gottschalk's.
