November 27, 2007 - ECHL (ECHL)
Elmira Jackals News Release
ELMIRA, NY - The Elmira Jackals, in conjunction with the ECHL, announced today that center Brett Pilkington has been named the In Glas Co ECHL Player of the Week for November 19th - 25th. The 6-foot and 200-pound center had three goals and five assists to help the Jackals go 4-0-0 and move into first place of the North Division while extending their team record winning streak to six games.
Pilkington's award marks the second consecutive week a Jackals player has been recognized for on-ice achievements. Last week, goaltender Dan LaCosta was named the Rbk Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week.
After scoring two goals, including one shorthand, and an assist in a 6-3 win at Gwinnett on Nov. 20, Pilkington tied his career bests and season highs with three assists and four points in a 4-0 home win against Trenton on Nov. 23 and ended his week with an assist in a 2-1 shootout win against Columbia on Nov. 25.
Since being traded to Elmira from Mississippi on Nov. 16, the Calgary, Alberta native has 10 points (3g-7a) and is the leading scorer during the Jackals current winning streak.
Pilkington split his rookie season in 2006-07 in the United Hockey League where he had 73 points (29g-44a) and 68 penalty minutes in 73 regular season games and three points (1g-2a) and two penalty minutes in five playoff games with Kalamazoo and Quad City.
He played four season at Bowling Green State University where he had 90 points (28g-62a) and 142 penalty minutes in 131 games from 2002-06.
On behalf of Brett Pilkington, a case of pucks will be donated to an Elmira area youth hockey organization by In Glas Co, the exclusive puck supplier for the ECHL. Since beginning its sponsorship of the award in 2000-01, In Glas Co has donated more than 18,000 pucks to youth hockey organizations in ECHL cities.
Pilkington and the Jackals look to extend their season-high six-game winning streak tonight in Dayton, OH, against the Bombers at 7 p.m. at the Nutter Center on the campus of Wright State University. Elmira then concludes a 13-game in 20-day stretch tomorrow night in Cincinnati against the Cyclones at 7:30 p.m. Both games can be heard live on MAGIC FM (92.7/97.7) beginning 30 minutes prior to game time each night with the Hill Top Inn Countdown to Face-Off.
The Jackals are then off until Wednesday, December 5th, when they host the Trenton Devils at First Arena in a 7:05 p.m. face-off. Tickets for all Jackals home games may be purchased in person at the Gray Street box office at First Arena (10 a.m. - 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday, 2 p.m. Sunday), Ticketmaster charge-by-phone at 722-3711, on-line at www.ticketmaster.com, and by calling 734-PUCK (7825).
