Fresno Falcons News Release

Fresno, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons announced today that the team has signed goaltender Jake Moreland to a contract. Moreland was then placed on the 3-day IR list.

The 28-year Moreland enters his fifth pro season. He made his pro debut with the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies in the 2003 Kelly Cup Playoffs, helping to lead the team to the league title. In his first full season in 2003-04, Moreland went 11-4-1, then won a career high 20 games the following season in Matt Thomas' first season as a head coach.

Moreland became the first-ever player signed by the Stockton Thunder on July 29, 2005, and appeared in a career-high 43 games with the Thunder posting a record of 14-19-8. Moreland represented Stockton in the 2006 ECHL All-Star Game held in Fresno. He joined the AHL's Milwaukee Admirals for their playoff run, and was part of a club that lost to the Hershey Bears in the Calder Cup Finals. Last season, Moreland started the season in Europe, before returning to the United States, and playing in 11 games with the UHL's Rockford IceHogs.

"Jake is a proven goaltender at this level, and he will add an element to this team that we need right now," Thomas said. "We look forward to welcoming him into the line-up."

The Falcons return to action on Friday, hosting the Bakersfield Condors at 7:30 p.m. It's the eighth annual Teddy Bear Toss presented by Gottschalk's. All fans are asked to bring a new teddy bear or stuffed animal to the game and toss it on the ice after the Falcons score their first goal. All toys collected will benefit Toys for Tots.

Tickets for all Falcons home games can be purchased at the Save Mart Center Box Office, or through TicketMaster at (559) 485-8497 or www.ticketmaster.com. All Falcons' games are broadcast on 790 ESPN Radio, The Deuce, starting 15 minutes prior to face-off with the Port of Subs Pre-Game Show.
