Idaho's Briggs Named Rbk Hockey Goalie Of The Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Kellen Briggs of the Idaho Steelheads is the Rbk Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Nov. 19-25.

The Colorado Springs rookie was 2-0-0 with a shutout, a 0.50 goals-against average and a .973 save percentage as the Steelheads went 2-1-0 against West Division leader Victoria.

After making 13 saves in a 4-1 win against Victoria on Nov. 23, the 24 year old turned aside all 23 shots he faced to register his first professional shutout in a 3-0 win against the Salmon Kings on Nov. 24.

The 5-foot-11 and 185-pound Briggs is 3-2-1 in six games and ranks third in the ECHL with a goals-against average of 1.83 and is tied for third with a save percentage of .935.

He played four seasons at the University of Minnesota where he was 84-34-8 with 13 shutouts, a 2.44 goals-against average and a .907 save percentage in 131 games from 2003-07. Briggs also played three seasons in the United States Hockey League where he was 57-45-5 with four shutouts, a 3.52 goals-against average and a .902 save percentage in 112 games for the Sioux Falls Stampede from 2000-03.

Runners Up: Ryan Munce, Mississippi (2-0-0, 2.88 GAA, .934 save pct), Kris Mayotte, Fresno (2-0-0, 1.50 GAA, .944 save pct) and Peter Aubry, Texas (3-0-0, 2.40 GAA, .919 save pct.).

Also Nominated: J.P. Levasseur (Augusta), Dan Turple (Gwinnett), Kevin Lalande (Las Vegas), Mike Brodeur (Pensacola), Cody Rudkowsky (Phoenix), Davis Parley (South Carolina), Jason Smith (Trenton) and Michael Mole (Utah).
