Rebels Drop a 3-1 Decision in Prince George

PRINCE GEORGE, BC - Goaltender Dawson Weatherill made his WHL debut and Luke Philp was named team captain earlier in the day, but the Rebels lost 3-1 to the Prince George Cougars on Friday evening.

The first period was scoreless, but both Weatherill and Cougars netminder Ty Edmonds were outstanding.

In the second period, the Cougars got the only goal; Jesse Gabrielle made it 1-0 for Prince George after 40 minutes.

In the third period, Luke Philp ran his point streak to four games with a goal for Red Deer. The Cougars took the lead again on a goal by Tate Olson. Gabrielle added an empty net goal to make the final score 3-1.

Dawson Weatherill, up from the Red Deer Optimist Chiefs, made 28 saves in the Rebels net. Ty Edmonds made 34 saves in the Cougars goal.

Red Deer was 0 for 4 on the power play; the Cougars were 0 for 1.

The two teams will play again on Saturday; this will be the last game of the road trip for Red Deer. The broadcast on 106.7 The Drive begins at 7:50PM.
