Kennewick, WA - Behind a 33-save shutout, Evan Sarthou passed Olaf Kolzig on the Americans' all-time wins list, as he helped guide the Tri-City Americans (28-26-2-1, 59 pts) past the Everett Silvertips (33-20-2-2, 70 pts) 2-0 in front of 4,721 fans at the Toyota Center. Since the calendar flipped to 2016, the Americans have won 7 of their last 8 home games, pulling to within 3 points of a Wild Card spot in the race for the 2016 WHL Playoffs.

With the Toyota Center illuminated with luminaries to kick-off the 11th annual Fred Meyer Breast Cancer Awareness Night, the two sides took to the pink ice for a tight first period. But, the Americans caught a break with less than three minutes remaining in the first period.

While killing off Morgan Geekie's tripping penalty, Everett's Carter Hart misplayed the puck off the boards. The puck sat at the top of the right circle, where Mackenze Stewart blasted it past a sprawling Hart, for the 1-0 lead. It was Stewart's third goal of the season and his first career shorthanded goal.

Then, just 18 seconds into the second period, and while on the power play, Parker Bowles notched his team-leading 33rd goal of the season, stretching the Americans' lead to 2-0.

Clinging to a two-goal lead entering the third, the 'Tips pressed hard to get back into the game. Everett finished with a 15-to-1 shot advantage in the third period, but Sarthou was up to the task, turning away each shot he faced. In the end, Sarthou picked up his 24th win of the season and 38th win of his career, moving past Kolzig for 8th on the Americans' all-time wins list. Sarthou now has 9 career WHL shutouts, which also ties him with Drew Owsley for 4th in the Americans' record books.

Meanwhile, Hart finished with 15 saves in the loss. Tri-City went 1-of-2 on the man-advantage, while holding Everett scoreless on all 4 of their power play chances.

The Americans will now look to continue to gain ground in the race for a playoff spot, as they travel to Veterans Memorial Arena tomorrow to face-off against the rival Spokane Chiefs (27-22-5-3). Game time is 7:05pm. Fans can catch all the action live, via WHL Live, at Kimo's, the Americans' home away from home, starting at 7:00pm. The game will also be broadcast on NewsTalk 870 AM, with the voice of the Americans, Craig West, on air at 6:45pm.
