Oil Kings Bounce Back in Moose Jaw

Edmonton Oil Kings News Release

MOOSE JAW, SK -- Resilience is a word the Edmonton Oil Kings live by and it showed Saturday night.

After having left Brandon with an 8-3 loss and getting into Moose Jaw in the wee hours of the morning, the Oil Kings played 60 solid minutes on route to a 3-2 win over the Warriors.

"After a real tough game last night I thought the PK stepped up big," said Oil Kings assistant coach Ryan Marsh. "We were pressed in the third and the guys killed a huge penalty late there."

The Oil Kings came out looking very poised and structured throwing 15 shots on net at Warriors goaltender Brody Willms getting a couple by him.

Tyler Robertson opened up the scoring with his 13th on the year from Ben Carroll. After Moose Jaw's leading scorer Dryden Hunt evened things up, Edmonton's leading scorer answered back when Brett Pollock buried his 23rd goal off a Lane Bauer faceoff win.

Edmonton added to its lead late in the second when Pollock fed a beautiful pass to Dario Meyer who broke in on Willms tucking in his 10th of the season.

The Warriors drew within one 1:40 into the third but Payton Lee and the Oil Kings stuck to their game plan ending Moose Jaw's six game unbeaten streak.

The Oil Kings penalty killing unit was perfect tonight going 3/3 against the Warriors powerplay. Those were the only three penalties in the game as Moose Jaw did not receive a penalty the entire game.

The boys will have about 18 hours to enjoy this win and travel to Regina where they end their three games in three nights road swing with a match up against the Pats. Game time is 3pm MT and TSN 1260's Corey Graham has the call.

The 2015-16 Edmonton Oil Kings season is presented by Insight Insurance and Risk Management.
