Reading Signs Defenseman from CCHA

Reading, PA – The Reading Royals, affiliate of the NHL's Los Angeles Kings and AHL's Manchester Monarchs, have announced that defenseman Matt York has signed a contract with the club.

Matt York comes to Reading after a four-year career at Ferris State University of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. York is the all-time leader in penalty minutes in Bulldog history. In four seasons, he appeared in 132 games scored 16 goals, 62 assists for 78 points and recorded 432 penalty minutes. The Woodhaven, Michigan native graduated with a degree in Law Enforcement in three years and is currently working on his Masters Degree in Criminal Justice. York was teammates with current Royals defenseman Troy Milam at FSU. He is not expected in the line up tonight. He will wear sweater #4.

Reading meets Dayton tonight for the final time this season in the Sovereign Center in Reading. The Bombers and Royals meet for the final time this season in Dayton on April 1. The Royals battle the Johnstown Chiefs on Friday night to close out the seven-game regular season series. Commonwealth Orthopaedics is handing out Labatt Blue/ Royals window stickers to the first 1,500 fans. The Keystone Cup trophy will be presented to the Royals prior to the opening faceoff for winning the battle of Pennsylvania this season. The puck drops on both nights at 7:05 p.m.
