San Antonio Rampage News Release

SAN ANTONIO - Josh Tordjman had 55 saves, missing the franchise record by one, to lift the Rampage to a 4-2 victory over Texas rival, Houston Aeros, Tuesday night at the AT&T Center. Throughout his first three AHL starts, Tordjman has 103 saves.

The Aeros opened and closed the game with a goal. Their first came just 1:11 after the initial face-off from Danny Irmen with assists from Ben Thomson and Peter Olvecky.

Rookie Daniel Winnik was able to flip the puck over Aeros' goaltender, Josh Harding, to put the first dent in the scoreboard for the Rampage at the 10:22 mark. Yanick Lehoux and Pascal Rheaume were credited with the assists on Winnik's fifth goal of the season. Randall Gelech blasted a shot into the upper right-hand corner of the net freezing Harding in place to put the Rampage up 2-1. Don MacLean, who rejoined the Rampage after a nine-game stint with the Phoenix Coyotes, contributed an assist along with Travis Roche.

Tordjman had 20 saves in the second period allowing no goals and came back in the third to stop 21 shots missing the franchise record for most saves in a period by two, set on October 16, 2003 against Cincinnati.

Despite being outshot 22 to six in the final stanza, the Rampage were able to tally back-to-back goals and extend their lead 4-1. Rookie Bill Thomas connected with a pass from Jeff Taffe at the 6:06 mark as Tyson Nash was also credited with the helper. Sixteen seconds later, Winnik tipped the puck to Rheaume who brought the puck around from behind the net and passed it to Yanick Lehoux, who was camped out in the slot, and go down in the Rampage record books for fastest two goals scored by Rampage players.

With three seconds left in the game, Aeros' center Thomson was able to hit the back of the net but was too late to start the rally for Houston ending in a 4-2 victory for the Rampage.

The Rampage, now 7-11-0-0, claim their second game in as many nights and are on a four-game winning streak at home and will head to Houston this Friday at 7:35 p.m. for the second time in a week's span.
