Campoli Joins Sound Tigers

Second-year defenseman Chris Campoli has been assigned to the American Hockey League's Bridgeport Sound Tigers by their parent club, the NHL's New York Islanders. Campoli, who was out of action for most of the month of October with a pulled groin, was in Bridgeport for conditioning and played seven games with the Sound Tigers from Oct. 27 through Nov. 12. Campoli registered assists in games against Philadelphia on Nov. 10 and Worcester on Nov. 12.

In 2004-05, his first professional season, Campoli was second on the Sound Tigers with 49 points. He led all rookie AHL defensemen in goals with 15 and in points and was selected to the AHL's All-Rookie Team. In 2005-06, Campoli played 80 games with the Islanders.

Campoli, 22, was selected in the seventh round (227th overall) in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

The Sound Tigers, winners of their last two games, host Binghamton on Friday, Nov. 24 at 7:30 p.m. at the Arena at Harbor Yard.
