Devils Earn Weekend Sweep

Rewind:

Friday, Devils 4 @ MANCHESTER 3, OT

After a first period in which they allowed three goals, the Devils scored four unanswered goals to defeat the Monarchs in overtime. Dan McGillis provided the game winner with just 24 seconds left in the overtime period. Grant Marshall, Dan LaCouture, and Nicklas Bergfors also scored for Lowell. Jordan Parise earned the win by stopping all 16 shots he faced in relief of Frank Doyle.

Saturday, Devils 5 @ PORTLAND 3

The Devils jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and held off the Pirates to record the 5-3 win in Portland. Justin Papineau scored two goals, Nicklas Bergfors tallied a pair of assists, and a total of six Devils recorded two points in the win. Jordan Parise added the first goalie assist in Devils history in addition to earning his third win in as many games.

Sunday, DEVILS 6 vs. WORCESTER 2

The Devils scored three times in the first period and three times in the third to defeat the Sharks for the second time this season. Worcester goalie Nolan Schaefer made just one save and was chased from the game after just 13:06. Justin Papineau paced the Devils with his second multiple point night in a row, recording one goal and two assists. Aaron Voros, Nicklas Bergfors, David Clarkso! n, Grant Marshall, and Chris Minard also scored for the Devils. Frank Doyle stopped 27 shots to earn his team-leading fifth win of the season.

In the standings

By going 3-0-0-0 over the three-game weekend, the Devils claimed all six possible points and now sit alone in third place in the Atlantic Division. They trail first place Portland and Providence by three points in the standings. The Devils have two games in hand on the Pirates.

Coming Up

The Devils head to Hershey to face the defending Calder Cup champion Hershey Bears on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m. before returning home on Friday night to battle the Portland Pirates at 7:05 p.m. During the game, the Devils will be giving one lucky fan a chance to win $20,000.

On Saturday, the Devils hit the road again as they travel to Albany to play the River Rats at 7:00 p.m. Lowell returns home on Sunday to host the Providence Bruins for the first time this season. Game time is at 4:05 p.m. Fans are welcome to hit the ice for a free post-game skate, sponsored by Jeanne D'Arc Credit Union. A limited number of skates are available for use at no extra charge, or fans may bring their own to the game. Around the Horns

The Devils have taken at least a point in nine of their last ten games (7-1-1-1).

Nicklas Bergfors has tallied at least one point in four straight games. During the streak, Bergfors also racked up three multiple point games in a row from 11/12 - 11/18.

Another Devil in the midst of a hot streak is Justin Papineau, who also has at least one point in the last four games in which he has played. He is also currently in the middle of a two game multiple-point streak, after scoring two goals on Saturday against Portland and adding a goal and two assists on Sunday against Worcester.

After winning all three games this weekend, the Devils have now won four games in a row, the first such streak of their history, and have won five of their last six games overall.

Lowell tied its best power play output of the season on Friday night against Manchester, scoring three goals on the man advantage. The Devils previously recorded three power-play goals in a game in a 3-2 win over Worcester on 10/23.

Goaltender Jordan Parise continues to play well between the pipes. The rookie stopped 43 of the 46 shots he faced this weekend en route to picking up two more victories to bring his record on the season to 4-1-0.
