Giordano Recalled By Calgary

The Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights announced Monday that the Calgary Flames, their National Hockey League affiliate, have recalled defenseman Mark Giordano from loan to Omaha. The announcement was made by Flames' General Manager Darryl Sutter.

Giordano appeared in two games for the Knights last weekend, earning one assist and a +3 rating. So far this season, he has appeared in seven games for the Flames, scoring two goals and earning six penalty minutes and a +3 rating. The goals, the first of his NHL career, came on October 14th in his hometown of Toronto, Ontario. Last year, Giordano led the Ak-Sar-Ben Knights in scoring with 16 goals and 42 assists for 58 points in 73 games. He also played in seven games with Calgary, earning one assist.

Giordano was originally signed by the Flames as a free agent in June of 2004 after two years of junior hockey with Owen Sound of the Ontario Hockey League.

The Ak-Sar-Ben Knights return to action on Wednesday when they host the Chicago Wolves at 7:00 p.m. It's a showdown of the two teams currently tied for first place in the West Division. The Knights and Bag 'N Save will host the first ever "Turkey Toss" as contestants bowl frozen turkeys on the ice of the Civic Auditorium for a chance to win a holiday dinner from Bag 'N Save.

Tickets for all Ak-Sar-Ben Knights' games are on sale at the Omaha Civic Auditorium box office Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Tickets also are available through all Ticketmaster outlets and by phone at (402) 422-1212. Kids 12 and under get in free with a paid adult on tickets purchased after 5:00 p.m. Other restrictions apply.
