Hamilton Bulldogs News Release

HAMILTON, ON - Despite forward Duncan Milroy registering his first career hat trick, the Hamilton Bulldogs lost 5-4 to the Manitoba Moose on Tuesday night at Copps Coliseum. With the loss, Hamilton's record drops to 8-8-0-1 on the season.

The Bulldogs opened the scoring at 9:41 of the first period when Milroy notched his team-leading seventh goal of the season. Rookie Mikhail Grabovski beat Manitoba goaltender Wade Flaherty to the puck on a dump-in pass by Mathieu Roy and sent it in front to Milroy who scored into an empty net.

The two teams would exchange quick goals three times in the first two periods.

The Moose tied the score 1-1 at 13:08 of the first frame when Nathan Smith potted his fourth goal of the year. The Bulldogs pulled back into the lead 21 seconds later when Milroy scored his second goal of the game. Grabovski again assisted on the goal, dropping a pass to Milroy who beat Flaherty with a high wrist shot to the blocker side.

Manitoba evened the score at the 18:34 mark of the opening period on Jesse Schultz's fifth goal of the campaign. Hamilton once again responded quickly, scoring 17 seconds after the Moose made the score 2-2. Ajay Baines stole the puck from a Moose defender and passed it in front of net to Kyle Chipchura who made no mistake for his third goal of the season.

The Moose pulled even for the third time in the game when Jason Jaffray tallied his 13th goal of the season at 1:50 of the middle stanza. The Bulldogs then made the score 4-3 with Milroy's third goal of the game at 3:57 of the second period on the power play.

Manitoba took its first lead of the game in the third period and never looked back. First, Lee Goren scored his fourth goal of the season at the 3:57 mark to tie the game 4-4. Then Brad Moran scored his seventh goal on the year on the power play at 10:05 of the final frame to give the Moose a 5-4 lead. Moran's goal proved to be the game-winner and gave him four points (1-3-4) on the night.
