San Antonio Rampage News Release

SAN ANTONIO -- The San Antonio Rampage gave AT&T Center fans an early Christmas gift in the finale of their 11-game home stand Friday night against the Springfield Falcons. Trailing 1-0 going into the final frame, the Rampage scored three third-period goals to clip Springfield 3-1 and set a franchise record for most shots in a game.

Rampage center Joey Tenute, the man responsible for the game-winner, also tied the previous franchise record by putting the team's 46th shot on goal of the night into the back of the net at 13:09 of the third period. Tenute took sole possession of the team lead with his 15th goal of the season, and moved into a tie for fourth in the AHL.

In total, the Rampage finished with 51 shots fired at Springfield netminder Jeff Deslauriers to eclipse the mark set on April 5, 2003 at Chicago, during the team's first season in San Antonio. They attempted no fewer than 13 shots in a period, and blasted 20 at Deslauriers in the third and deciding frame to outshoot Springfield 51-22. The previous season-high for the Rampage was 42 shot attempts.

Defenseman Travis Roche added a score at 17:07 of the third period as insurance. Defenseman Pete Vandermeer skated behind the back of the net and found a streaking Roche, who fired from just inside the right circle, for his second assist of the night. Roche's 22 points (4 goals, 18 assists) place him fifth amongst AHL defensemen.

The shutout bid by Deslauriers was denied early in the final period when Vandermeer blasted a shot at Springfield's goaltender and left wing Matt Murley found the caroming puck to put the Rampage on the board. The marker evened things up at 1-1 as Vandermeer collected his first assist of the night with Murley's goal at 1:39 on the power play.

Rampage goalie Josh Tordjman earned the win with a quiet 21 saves on 22 shots for his 9th victory of the season.

Springfield scored their only goal off rookie Liam Reddox's skate. Reddox fired a shot and was blocked by Tordjman and came crashing into the Rampage goaltender to cause the puck to trickle in with 1:47 remaining in the first period.

San Antonio wrapped up the homestand with a 6-4-1-0 mark and remained in third place in the West Division with 39 points. The Rampage will take on division rival Houston Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. at the Toyota Center.
