
Hurricanes Call Up Rats Leading Goal Scorer

ALBANY, NY - The Albany River Rats announced today that left wing Brandon Nolan has been recalled to the Carolina Hurricanes of the National Hockey League. The River Rats also announced that they have signed right wing Joel Rechlicz to a professional tryout agreement.
Nolan, 24, is currently tied for the River Rats team-lead in goals (11) and is heading to Carolina looking to make his NHL debut. Nolan has 22 points (11 goals, 11 assists) in 29 games played for Albany this season, putting him in second place on the team in scoring. The St. Catherine's Ontario native is the fourth player, along with Keith Aucoin, Ryan Bayda and Andrew Ladd, to play for both Albany and Carolina this season. Nolan (6'1", 190 lbs) has appeared in 183 AHL games in his five-year pro career, recording 89 points (37 goals, 52 assists); this year he is third on Albany in both penalty minutes (59) and shots (71).
Rechlicz, 20, (pronounced REHK-lidge) comes to Albany in the middle of his first season of professional hockey. The Brookfield, Wisconsin native began the year with the Kalamazoo Wings of the IHL, registering one goal and 95 penalty minutes in 21 games played. Rechlicz (6'4", 220 lbs) played 55 games with one assist and 159 PIMs for the Chicoutimi Sagueneens of the QMJHL in 2006-07 and then made his professional debut by playing two games last year for the Chicago Hounds of the UHL.
Rechlicz will be looking to make his Albany and AHL debut Friday night as the River Rats travel to Syracuse to square off with the Crunch at 7:30 pm at the War Memorial at Oncenter. Albany will finish off their weekend schedule on Saturday, December 22nd as they head to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton for a rematch with the Penguins at 7:05 pm at Wachovia Arena.
