San Antonio Rampage News Release
SAN ANTONIO (Jan. 23, 2007) - The San Antonio Rampage announced today that they have recalled defenseman Alexandre Rouleau from their ECHL affiliate, the Phoenix RoadRunners. In addition the team has released defenseman Nick Martens from his professional tryout offer (PTO).
Rouleau, 23, earns his third call-up to the Rampage this season. The Mont-Laurier, Quebec native leads all RoadRunners' defensemen and is tied for eighth overall among ECHL blue-liners in scoring with eight goals and 27 points through 33 games. He has totaled two assists and 18 penalty minutes in 18 career AHL regular season games.
The Pittsburgh Penguins' third-round draft pick (4th choice, 96th overall) in 2001 NHL Entry Draft signed an AHL/ECHL two-way contract with San Antonio while attending the Rampage's training camp in September.
The 24-year-old Martens was signed by San Antonio on October 6, 2006 after attending training camp. The 6-foot-1, 198-pound defenseman has recorded four assists in 23 games this season with the Rampage.
With the annual San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo taking over the AT&T Center, the Rampage kick off a 16-game, 28-day road odyssey covering nearly 7,500 miles on Thursday night with a game against the Marlies at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto.
