January 23, 2007 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Chicago Wolves News Release

The Chicago Wolves have signed defenseman JON AWE. In addition, the Wolves have released blueliner BRIAN LEE.

AWE, who will be appearing in his second stint with Chicago this month, leads the ECHL with 17 power-play goals and paces league blueliners with 20 goals and 43 points in 36 games with the Gwinnett Gladiators this season. Last week, he participated in the ECHL All-Star Game as a member of the American Team.

The 26-year-old defenseman recorded five shots in Chicago's 6-3 loss against the Hamilton Bulldogs on Jan. 13, during his Wolves debut. He was held scoreless in two American Hockey League contests with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins earlier this year.

The Memphis, Tenn., native has appeared in 21 career AHL games with the Portland Pirates (2005-06), Providence Bruins (2005-06), Penguins and Wolves, collecting one assist and eight penalty minutes. He was named to the ECHL's All-Rookie Team last season after accruing 14 goals and 35 points in 49 tilts with the Gladiators during his professional debut.

LEE registered a +2 plus/minus rating and six penalty minutes in four games with the Wolves last week after signing with the club on Jan. 17.

In accordance with team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
