Ak-Sar-Ben Knights Win Streak Hits Six

With their second longest-winning streak in team history, the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights have drawn even closer to the top of the West Division. The Knights beat Hamilton, Iowa and Rochester in three home games last week to extend their winning streak to six games. Only the eight game win streak they posted in October of this season is longer. The Knights will play two more home games as part of their eight-game home stand when they host Milwaukee on Wednesday and Chicago on Friday before pausing for the AHL's All-Star break. The Knights begin the week in second place in the West with a record of 27-13-3-0, good for 57 points. They are just three points behind Chicago with three games in hand. They also have an eight point lead over Peoria and Milwaukee who are tied for third. Wednesday, January 24 vs. Milwaukee Admirals (Nashville Predators/Edmonton Oilers), 7:00 p.m.

Seventh of ten meetings; fourth of five meetings in Omaha

The Knights will look to continue their strong play against the Admirals in the seventh meeting of the year. The Knights are 5-1-0-0 against Milwaukee this season and 8-5-0-3 against the Ads all time. The two teams last played on January 4th, a 4-3 Knights' win in Milwaukee. The Admirals begin the week tied with the Peoria Rivermen for third place in the West Division. Milwaukee is 21-16-3-4, good for 49 points. The Admirals have earned two-thirds of their wins this season on the road (14-8-1-3). Rich Peverley leads the Admirals in scoring with 18 goals and 29 assists for 47 points. He leads the team in both goals and assists as well. Karl Goehring has been a workhorse in the Admirals' goal posting a record of 17-10-4 in 33 games. He has a 2.64 goals-against average and a .909 save percentage. Fellow netminder Pekka Rinne just returned from a season-long injury. He has appeared in two games since being cleared to play. The Admirals visit Houston on Tuesday before coming to Omaha.

Friday, January 26 vs. Chicago Wolves (Atlanta Thrashers), 7:00 p.m.

Sixth of ten meetings; fourth of five meetings in Omaha

The Knights host the Wolves for the fourth time this season in the last game before the AHL's All-Star break. After winning the first meeting, the Knights have lost four straight to Chicago. They are 6-9-0-0 against the Wolves all time. Chicago begins the week in first place in the West Division with a record of 28-14-1-3, good for 60 points. That puts them three ahead of the Knights with three more games played. The Wolves have the best road record in the AHL at 18-4-0-0. They have won all three previous games in Omaha. Darren Haydar leads the Wolves and the league in scoring with 28 goals and 57 assists for 85 points. Line mate Brett Sterling is second in team points with 63 including a league-leading 37 goals. Michael Garnett and Fred Brathwaite share time in the Wolves' net. Garnett is 15-8-0 while Brathwaite paces the team with a 2.85 goals-against average and a .900 save percentage. The Wolves visit Iowa on Tuesday before coming to Omaha.
