January 23, 2007 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Hamilton Bulldogs News Release
The Hamilton Bulldogs, in conjunction with TD Canada Trust and McMaster Children's Hospital, have announced that the 11th Annual TD Canada Trust 'Smiles on Ice' Game will take place on Friday, January 26th at 7:30 p.m. when the Hamilton Bulldogs host the San Antonio Rampage at Copps Coliseum.
This year's patient ambassador for the game is 4-year-old Isabella Taraba, while forward Corey Locke is the Hamilton Bulldogs ambassador. Proceeds from the game will go to 'Smiles on Ice' in support of Mac Kids.
"We are excited to once again be teaming up with TD Canada Trust and Hamilton Health Sciences to create some 'Smiles On Ice' this Friday, January 26th, when the San Antonio Rampage visit Copps Coliseum," said Hamilton Bulldogs President and Governor Glenn Stanford. "Thanks to the generosity and commitment of our fans, TD Canada Trust, and their patrons, the 'Smiles On Ice' game has raised more than $175,000 in it's first 10 seasons. With more than 2,400 tickets already sold through TD Canada Trust branches for this year's event, and a season-high crowd of more than 7,000 fans expected to be on-hand for Friday night's game, we are confident that we will surpass the $200,000 mark in total monies raised through the 'Smiles On Ice' game in support of Mac Kids."
"At McMaster Children's Hospital we are honoured and touched by the level of community support we receive. Great corporate partners like TD Canada Trust and the Hamilton Bulldogs are making a tremendous difference by helping us year after year to provide the highest quality of care possible for our patients and their families," said Dr. Peter Steer, President of McMaster Children's Hospital.
Rene Quercia, the TD Canada Trust District Vice President stated, "On behalf of TD Canada Trust for Greater Hamilton and surrounding communities, it is our pleasure once again to sponsor the 11th annual 'Smiles on Ice' for Mac Kids. As a community, we are so privileged to have a world-class medical facility like McMaster Children's Hospital in our neighbourhood, providing top quality health care to our children and grandchildren. TD Canada Trust is committed to supporting McMaster, and the Smiles game is one way we are able to do that. Over the past 11 years with the support of the Hamilton Bulldogs, we have raised over $175,000 from this game, and this year we are expecting an even bigger and better event."
Tickets for this Friday night's game are available at Hamilton-area TD Canada Trust branches, the Copps Coliseum Box Office, at all Ticketmaster locations, online at ticketmaster.ca and at select Sports Obsession locations.
The Hamilton Bulldogs have assisted and supported McMaster Children's Hospital throughout their 11 years in Hamilton.
