
RailRiders Fall, 6-4, to Red Wings

MOOSIC, PA. - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders dropped a 6-4 final to the Rochester Red Wings 6-4 on Margaritaville Night at PNC Field. Franchy Cordero gave the RailRiders an early lead, but the Red Wings tallied six late runs to win their second straight.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre got on the board first in the bottom of the first when Everson Pereira and Andrés Chaparro walked with two outs and Cordero drove a 1-1 pitch from Wily Peralta 417 feet to right for a 3-0 advantage.
Mitch Spence held the Wings in check until the top of the sixth inning, matching his career-high with nine strikeouts. Rochester evened the score in the sixth on three singles and three walks, with Richie Martin providing a two-run base hit to tie the game.
The Red Wings took the lead in the top of the seventh. Rochester reached on three straight singles against reliever Spencer Howard, with an error allowing the go-ahead run to cross. The Red Wings would extend the lead out to three runs in the frame.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre would get a run back in the bottom of the eighth on a pair of walks, a single and a groundout to cut the deficit to one at 6-4 and close the scoring.
Howard (0-1) took the loss while Hobie Harris (2-2) notched the win. Gerson Moreno picked up his eighth save with a scoreless ninth.
