Omaha Storm Chasers News Release

LOUISIVLLE, KEN. - The Omaha Storm Chasers received 4.0 scoreless innings from the bullpen but were held to just one run in a 5-1 loss to Louisville Bats, the team's fifth straight defeat, Saturday evening.

Omaha struck first in the series' penultimate game, as Angelo Castellano dashed home on a double steal with Nick Loftin for an early 1-0 lead.

The Chasers led until the bottom of the fourth, when a walk, game-tying sacrifice fly and solo home run put the Bats up 2-1.

Omaha starter Jonathan Bowlan (3-3) worked into the fifth inning but a pair of singles and a walk loaded the bases with no outs as the game turned over to the bullpen. Taylor Hearn inherited three runners and a trio of singles scored all three runs, but he stranded his three baserunners as the fifth inning ended with Louisville leading 5-1.

Behind Hearn's inning, Steven Cruz fired 2.0 scoreless innings with three strikeouts, retiring six straight after a leadoff walk in the sixth inning. Collin Snider pitched a scoreless eighth with a runner stranded on but the offense could not add anything past the third inning run.

Through the first six innings, the Storm Chasers were held to just two hits - singles from Loftin in the third and sixth. Tyler Gentry and Brewer Hicklen both singled in the seventh but were stranded on base, then Devin Mann added a single in the eighth but couldn't score.

Gentry tripled with one out in the ninth but was stranded 90 feet away as Omaha fell for the fifth straight game to the Bats and head into Sunday in danger of being swept.

The Storm Chasers will try and salvage the series Sunday at 12:05 p.m. CT from Louisville Slugger Field.
