RailRiders Fall, 10-8, to Red Sox

MOOSIC, PA - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders dropped a back-and-forth battle 10-8 to the Worcester Red Sox. The score changed hands nine times with eleven runs in total coming in the eighth or later. The RailRiders had two homers in the loss including one from Major League rehabber Jake Bauers.

Everson Pereira led off the scoring with a solo shot, his second in Triple-A.

Worcester got on the board in the fourth inning. Cedonne Rafaela doubled to reach and Bobby Dalbec singled him home to tie things up at one.

The WooSox took the lead in the fifth. Narcisco Crook tripled and scored on a wild pitch. David Hamilton knocked in a another run for a 3-1 advantage.

In the bottom half, the RailRiders tied things up at three apiece. Bauers, in Major League rehab, smashed two-run homer 417 feet into dead center field.

Bauers continued the offense with a deep double to begin the seventh. He stole a bag and raced home on Andres Chaparro's RBI single for a 4-3 lead.

Worcester battled back in the next frame. Ronaldo Hernandez had a solo shot and Stephen Scott torched a three-run blast for a four-run frame and a 7-4 lead.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre was right there for control once again in the home half. Jamie Westbrook drew a walk, Jesus Bastidas singled, Brandon Lockridge walked to load the bases. A sacrifice fly from Michael Hermosillo plated one run and a balk drove in another. Pereira laced a base knock to bring in Lockridge tying things up at seven. Chaparro followed it up with a double to center field driving in the go-ahead run.

In the top of the ninth, the WooSox got another three-run homer from Scott to take the game once and for all 10-8.

Randy Vasquez got the start throwing four innings of work. He allowed three runs on five hits with four strikeouts. Zach Greene and Aaron McGarity had clean outings. Matt Bowman gave up four runs on two homers in his inning and a third. Greg Weissert (L, 3-3) let up three runs in the ninth.

Dinelson Lamet got the start going four and a third allowing three runs on four hits. Chase Shugart (W, 3-1) took the win, while AJ Politi (S, 9) got his ninth save of the season.
