MOOSIC, PA (September 17, 2026) - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders fell to the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp 7-5 Thursday night at PNC Field. The RailRiders fell behind early and could not complete the comeback late, dropping their second straight to the Jumbo Shrimp.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first against Jacksonville starter Jace Beck. Batting from the left side of the plate, Jasson Domínguez launched a towering fly ball over the right-field wall to put the RailRiders on the board 1-0. The Jumbo Shrimp countered in the top of the third. After loading the bases on three walks, a Kemp Alderman grand slam gave Jacksonville a 4-1 advantage. Juan Matheus walked, advanced to third on a throwing error, and scored on a Gage Miller RBI single for a four-run cushion.

The RailRiders cut into the deficit in the home half of the frame on Marco Luciano's two-run homer. J.C. Escarra was hit by a pitch before Luciano blasted his 17th homer of the year to close within two. Jacksonville bats went silent after the third as RailRiders relievers allowed just two hits heading into the bottom of the seventh when Domínguez doubled home Duke Ellis from second, cutting the deficit to one.

In the top of the eighth, Jacksonville took a 6-4 lead after Johnny Olmstead singled and Brendan Jones doubled him home. Jones crossed a throwing error to third, giving the Jumbo Shrimp a three-run advantage. With one out in the bottom of the eighth, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's Ernesto Martínez Jr. singled home Yanquiel Fernández to rally within two. The RailRiders brought the go-ahead run to the plate with two outs but could not capitalize.

Down two in the bottom of the ninth, Domínguez doubled to lead off, moving to third on a J.C. Escarra sac fly, but would be stranded at third as Wikelman González (S, 3) closed the game for the save. Dominguez was 4-for-5 with one run and two RBIs.

Yankees #13 Prospect Kyle Carr (0-3) pitched 2.1 frames, allowing two runs on no hits, walking four in defeat. Beck (2-2) surrendered three runs on six hits, striking out five in 5.0 innings in the win.

NEWS AND NOTES

IN THE LEAGUE- After back-to-back losses, the RailRiders are now tied for fourth place in the International League. They are three games behind Indianapolis and Rochester with Syracuse also in between. The RailRiders are 4-6 in their last ten games while Jacksonville has gone 3-7 and are 10.5 games back. SWB has had a pair of games cancelled, one versus Norfolk and the other Worcester, as did the Jumbo Shrimp with Gwinett and Durham.

HOMER HITTERS - The RailRiders now have 209 home runs after Jasson Domínguez and Marco Luciano added a pair last night. The team currently holds the second most in Triple-A, behind the league leading Saints with 249. Fernández leads the way tallying 26 on the summer, a dozen hitters have double digits, and 30 different players have at least one on the books for the SWB. The season record is 219 long balls, done back in 2023.

JASSON'S JOLT - Jasson Domínguez had a four-hit game last night and was one base away from the cycle. He homered in the first inning, recorded a single and then had a pair of doubles to finish it off. Domínguezis 7-for-10 this week with two home runs and four runs batted in. With SWB this summer, the switch-hitter holds a .302 batting average with 19 extra base hits.

MACGREGOR MAGIC - Travis MacGregor has impressed with the RailRiders now having lowered his ERA to 0.59 in 10 appearances. He has pitched 13.0 consecutive scoreless innings, allowing just one earned run in Triple-A. The righty has let up just five walks to 16 total strikeouts. MacGregor had four rehab assignments between Tampa and Hudson Valley after returning from the Injured List on August 7. The 28-year-old was signed by a minor league free agent contract on December 12.

WELCOME CONNOR - Connor McGinnis joined the RailRiders last night, making his Triple-A debut. McGinnis, 23, is only in his third professional season after being drafted by the Yankees in the 10th round of 2025. McGinnis split his time between Hudson Valley and Somerset this season working a .253 average.

WE SEE YOU DUKE - Duke Ellis set a new single season record with 57 stolen bases on the season, tying his own personal single season record as well. He is the third time in his career he has swiped that many in a year, hitting the mark back in 2022 and 2024. He broke the record of 44 set by Tommy Barrett in 1989. Barrett did so in 120 games, whereas Ellis marked his in 85 contests. Ellis also holds the franchise record for 99 total with Scranton/Wilkes-Barres. The prior record was held by Nick Punto who stole 82 bags in 263 games.
