HERD IMMUNITY: The Rochester Red Wings paired timely hitting with a sharp defensive effort to defeat the Buffalo Bisons, 3-1, Thursday afternoon at Sahlen Field...Rochester turned four double plays, while C MAXWELL ROMERO JR. threw out three would-be base stealers...offensively, 3B CAYDEN WALLACE and RF LEANDRO PINEDA delivered RBI doubles, and SS SEAVER KING broke a 1-1 tie with an RBI single in the fifth...Wallace, King, and LF TREY LIPSCOMB each collected two hits, backing RHP ISAAC LYON, who allowed one run across 4.0 innings...looking to take a commanding 3-1 series lead tonight as they continue the quest for their first postseason birth since 2013, the Red Wings will send RHP JARLIN SUSANA to the mound for his highly anticipated Triple-A debut...Buffalo will counter with RHP CJ Van Eyk... Rochester remains atop the International League second-half standings, tied with Indianapolis at 43-29 and 1.5 games ahead of Syracuse...the Red Wings hold the tiebreaker with a 12-8 record over their last 20 games (IND 11-9).

HEAT CHECK: Taking the mound for the first time at the Triple-A level tonight will be RHP JARLIN SUSANA ...the Nationals No. 3 prospect (MLB.com) has made just seven starts this year after recovering from lat surgery in September 2025, and has struck out at least five batters in each of his last three starts with Double-A Harrisburg (all 3.2 IP or fewer)...across 14 starts in 2025 with Harrisburg and High-A Wilmington, the Dominican Republic native struck out 95 batters in just 56.1 innings for a 15.18 K/9 mark (4th-best in full-season MiLB min 40.0 IP)...his 414 total strikeouts in 285.2 innings since making his professional debut in 2022 gives him a career K/9 of 13.04, fourth-best of any MiLB pitcher with at least 250.0 innings pitched over that span... The flamethrowing right-hander hit 103 MPH on the radar gun in his rehab start on 8/26 with Wilmington.

LONG LIVE THE LYON KING: RHP ISAAC LYON delivered 4.0 one-run innings on five hits in his fourth Triple-A start last night, while striking out four and walking a pair...the Utah native has allowed just three earned runs across 17.2 innings of work with the Red Wings for a 1.53 ERA, while striking out 18 with a 1.08 WHIP and .217 BAA...across 13 appearances (10 GS) since the start of July between Rochester and Double-A Harrisburg, Lyon leads all qualified Nationals Minor League pitchers with a 2.37 ERA, 64.2 innings pitched, a 1.13 WHIP and seven victories, while raining second with 55 strikeouts and third with a .245 BAA... Lyon now has exactly 125 strikeouts in his professional career.

BULLY-PEN: The Red Wings bullpen used four pitchers to cover the final five innings of yesterday's win, logging a combined 5.0 scoreless innings on just three hits...RHP EDDY YEAN picked up the win with a scoreless fourth and fifth, RHP KYLE NICOLAS turned in his 10th consecutive scoreless appearance in the eighth, and RHP JUSTIN LAWRENCE closed the door in the ninth with his third save of the season...Rochester relievers have posted a 3.11 ERA (39 ER/113.0 IP) against the Bisons across 21 games in 2026, the third-lowest mark against a single opponent (min. 75.0 IP) since at least 2004...they have also logged seven saves in eight attempts against Buffalo, just the second time since '04 the team has notched that many saves against one team in fewer than 10 attempts (7-for-9 vs. SYR in 2019)... 10 consecutive scoreless outings from Nicolas is tied for the longest streak by a Red Wings pitcher this season, joining RHP Julian Fernandez (4/4-5/7).

ROME(RO) WASN'T BUILT IN A DAY: C MAXWELL ROMERO JR. gunned down three men from behind the plate in Thursday afternoon's two-run win over Buffalo...the three caught stealings are tied for the most in a lone game in his professional career, last doing it with High-A Wilmington in 2024...he is the first Red Wings backstop to do so since Willians Astudillo on 5/25/2018, also against Buffalo...he has thrown out six would-be base stealers in the month of September, tied for the most in Minor League baseball...at the plate, the former Miami Hurricane has forced the issue against opposing teams in their own ballparks, he is slashing .348/.446/.696 with seven home runs...the Miami native holds the second-best road OPS (1.142) among International League hitters (Min. 65 AB)... Romero was also involved in one of the Red Wings season-high four double plays yesterday, their most turned in a single game since 6/25/2025 vs. Syracuse (4, T-most since 6/4/2019 at SYR).

WALL(ACE) SYSTEMS GO: 3B CAYDEN WALLACE made it three consecutive games with at least two hits in Thursday's win, finishing the contest 2-for-4 with an RBI...since the calendar flipped to September, the former Kansas City Royal farmhand has six multi-hit games and is hitting .317 (19-for-55) with six extra-base hits and 13 driven in through 14 games...this season, Wallace has had his way with Buffalo's right handed starting pitchers, slashing .423/.429/.731 with six extra-base hits and nine RBI...his batting average (.423) is the second highest against Buffalo SP this season among Triple-A hitters (Min. 25 AB)... Since 8/23, he leads International League hitters (Min. 75 AB) in AVG (.405), OBP (.478), SLG (.722), and isolated power (.316).

GONE STREAKIN': RF LEANDRO PINEDA hit a pair of two-baggers in game three of this six-game set in downtown Buffalo, extending his International League leading active on-base streak to 34 games...the streak, which dates back to 8/7, is tied with OF James Wood for the longest on-base streak by a Red Wing since SS Drew Maggi did it for 39 games in 2019...this month the Venezuelan native is slashing .320/.414/.540 with seven extra-base hits and seven RBI... When on the road this season, Pineda is hitting .317 (39-for-123), good for seventh best among International League hitters with at least 85 at-bats.
