Reading Fightin Phils News Release
Reading, PA - The Reading Phillies 5th annual Mother's Day game to fight breast cancer will be Sunday, May 10 when the R-Phils take on the Altoona Curve, the Double-A affiliate of the Pittsburgh Pirates, at 1:05 PM. Gates open at noon.
As in past years, the team will wear pink jerseys thanks to the PA Breast Cancer Coalition, 830 AM WEEU and 69 News Berks Edition. The game-worn, autographed jerseys will be raffled and auctioned off to benefit the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition.
The Mother's Day pink jersey auction and raffle has raised $23,876 for the PA Breast Cancer Coalition since it began in 2005.
The jersey is made of game-quality materials. The button-down tops feature a sewn-on R-Phils logo across the chest, sewn-on numbers, a pink ribbon sewn on the left sleeve and the Minor League Baseball logo sewn on the yoke.
The first 2,000 women 18 and older will receive a pink R-Phils canvas tote bag as a gift, thanks to Pepsi.
Fans can treat mom to a special dinner during the game. The Fairgrounds Square Mall Third Base Picnic Area is open to individuals at the discounted price of $20. Five dollars from every picnic area ticket sold will go to the PA Breast Cancer Coalition. Regularly $27, the picnic buffet includes: BBQ ribs, BBQ chicken, hot dogs, baked ziti, BBQ sandwiches, mac and cheese, corn on the cob, pasta salad, potato salad and Pepsi soft drinks. Picnic area tickets should be purchased in advance.
In addition to the Mother's Day festivities, every Sunday is a Dollar Dog Day thanks to Berks Packing and Stroehmann's. Plus, all fans can run the bases after the game thanks to 69 News Berks Edition.
The PA Breast Cancer Coalition will have an information table located in the Right Field Food Court for people to learn more about the battle against breast cancer.
