(Trenton, NJ)- The Trenton Thunder, Double-A Affiliate of the New York Yankees, have announced that C Jose Gil has been transferred from Trenton to the roster of the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees (Triple-A).

Gil has appeared in two games for the Thunder and has gone 2-for-2 with a double, in his only two plate appearances of the season. In 2008, as a member of Tampa (High-A), Gil appeared in 73 games and batted .240 with one home run and 25 RBI. The Venezuelan native was signed by the Yankees as an undrafted free agent in July of 2003.

Trenton and Connecticut play the middle game of a three-game series on Wednesday night from Waterfront Park. RHP Zach McAllister (1-0, 2.08) will start for Trenton against Connecticut RHP Henry Sosa (0-0, 3.00).
