BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - Max Friberg scored with 44.8 seconds left in regulation, as the Bridgeport Sound Tigers lost a heartbreaker to the Norfolk Admirals 3-2 on Sunday afternoon at Webster Bank Arena.

The Sound Tigers got a number of good opportunities early in the game, including a very short 5-on-3 advantage and a four-minute power play, but were only able to generate two shots on goal throughout the entirety of the man advantages.

The Admirals opened the scoring at 15:37 of the first period with a power play goal. The Sound Tigers took two consecutive penalties, giving Norfolk a long 5-on-3 advantage. Though Bridgeport was able to kill the first penalty off, they were never able to clear the puck from their zone. The Admirals were able to cash in on the Sound Tigers' fatigue when Friberg won a puck battle behind the net and fed the puck in front to Charles Sarault, who one-timed the puck past Kevin Poulin for the lead.

The Sound Tigers had a few chances to score near the end of the frame, but Norfolk goaltender Ryan Faragher was able to stop them all, keeping the score 1-0 after one period.

Bridgeport tied the game early in the second period on a seeing-eye shot. Johan Sundstrom fired a snapshot from the faceoff dot, which found its way through a maze of players and past Faragher. The goal was Sundstrom's fifth of the season.

The tie was short-lived, however, as a quick series of passes resulted in Norfolk's Stefan Noesen roofing a shot past a sprawling Poulin for the lead. The Sound Tigers had their own response ready, as Alan Quine fired a shot from almost the exact same location as Bridgeport's last goal and beat Faragher, tying the game at two.

The Admirals had a huge opportunity to take the lead early in the second period with a long 5-on-3 advantage and a four-minute double-minor power play, but were unable to capitalize, keeping the score tied at two.

A penalty to Bridgeport Captain Aaron Ness put the Admirals on the power play with just over a minute remaining and Norfolk would capitalize on the opportunity. Andrew O'Brien took a slap shot that shattered his stick and fooled the Bridgeport defense, allowing Friberg to pick the puck up and put it into the Sound Tigers' net for the game-winner.

Poulin played well, making 32 saves in the loss. Faragher also had a strong game, making 27 saves for the win.

The Sound Tigers return to action on Friday, February 27 when they visit the Springfield Falcons. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.

Notes: It was WWE Day, with wrestler Mark Henry signing autographs...Both teams combined for 56 penalty minutes...Norfolk's special teams played well, killing off all eight Bridgeport power plays and going 2-for-8 with the man-advantage.
