
Toronto Marlies Name Troy Bodie Team Captain

The Toronto Marlies announced Sunday that Troy Bodie has been named as the team's captain. Bodie, 30, will be the sixth captain in Marlies history succeeding former Marlies captain and current Toronto Maple Leaf Trevor Smith.
Bodie was drafted in the ninth round of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, 278th overall, by the Edmonton Oilers. His junior career consisted of four seasons with the Kelowna Rockets of the WHL, highlighted by a Memorial Cup win in the 2003-04 season. Since then, the Manitoba native has appeared in 159 NHL contests for three NHL teams including the Anaheim Ducks, Carolina Hurricanes and the Toronto Maple Leafs. Bodie has also skated in 356 AHL games where he has complied 82 goals, 61 assists for 143 points while adding 582 penalty minutes. As a Marlie, Bodie has skated in 77 games recording 17 goals and 13 assists for 30 points adding 60 penalty minutes. This is Bodie's first captaincy, previously serving as an assistant captain for the Syracuse Crunch (AHL), Norfolk Admirals (AHL) and currently for the Toronto Marlies.

The Marlies are in action today at Ricoh Coliseum when they face off against the Charlotte Checkers, AHL affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes, at 3:00 p.m. The two teams meet again when they face off Wednesday February 25 at 11:00 a.m. for the second of three school day games in conjunction with the Toronto District School Board.
