Toronto Marlies News Release

The Toronto Marlies and Charlotte Checkers met Sunday afternoon at Ricoh Coliseum in an eventful day for the Marlies. The game would be the first meeting between brother's Sam (Toronto) and Trevor (Charlotte) Carrick and it would be older brother Sam that would score the first of six goals for the Marlies to propel them past the Checkers. The Marlies scored four goals in the third period with two goals coming from the defensive pairing of Kevin Marshall and Andrew MacWilliam who had a stellar game. Marshall scored his first of the season to tie the game and was a plus five for the afternoon, while MacWilliam was a plus six recording an assist and scoring his second of the year, the eventual game winner. Prior to the game the Toronto Marlies named Troy Bodie their sixth captain in team history.

The two teams will renew acquaintances Wednesday morning for the second of three school day games in partnership with the Toronto District School Board. Puck drop is at 11:00 a.m. and tickets can be purchased at marlies.ca/tickets or by calling 416-597-PUCK (7825).
