Purolator and Marlies Join Forces To Fight Hunger

February 21, 2008 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Toronto Marlies News Release

The Toronto Marlies and Purolator will host the Purolator Shuts Out Hunger food drive on Sunday, February 24 when they host the Hamilton Bulldogs at 4 p.m. at Ricoh Coliseum. In conjunction with the food drive, the Marlies and Purolator present Tomas Kaberle bobblehead night for the game on Sunday.

Marlies fans attending the game are encouraged to participate by bringing two non-perishable food items or a two-dollar cash donation to the Purolator volunteers stationed at the Ricoh Coliseum gates to help support Toronto's Daily Bread Food Bank. For every goal scored by the Marlies, Purolator will donate 100 pounds to the food drive and an additional 500 pounds of food if the Marlies record a shutout.

In Marlies Alley, the Purolator tent will provide fans with additional information and another location to drop off their food items. The food drive will take place from 2:30 p.m. until puck drop.

The Marlies will be presenting their seventh bobblehead giveaway this season on Sunday afternoon. The first 5,000 fans in attendance will receive a Tomas Kaberle bobblehead, courtesy of Purolator when they enter through the gates.

As part of its larger commitment to helping alleviate hunger in Canada, Purolator organizes food drives and fundraisers throughout the year through a number of regional and national initiatives. Since 2003, Purolator has delivered more than 1.5 million pounds of food for food banks across Canada.

The Marlies return from their five-game road trip to host the Binghamton Senators - AHL affiliate of the Ottawa Senators- at Ricoh Coliseum on Saturday at 4 p.m. For ticket information, including ticket packages and priority seating, visit www.torontomarlies.com or call the team's ticket line at 416-597-PUCK.
