Canucks recall Bieksa

The Vancouver Canucks, the NHL affiliate of the Manitoba Moose, announced they have recalled defenceman Kevin Bieksa from Manitoba.

Bieksa, 26, appeared in one game and collected an assist after being assigned to the Moose for conditioning on February 20/08. So far this season with Vancouver, the Grimsby, ON native has played in 12 games and scored a goal and three assists for four points and 23 penalty minutes. Bieksa has missed the last 46 games after suffering a lower body injury during a game Nov. 1/07 vs. Nashville. In his four-year pro career, Bieksa has played in 132 career games with the Canucks and has scored 13 goals and 39 assists for 52 points and 234 penalty minutes. Bieksa has also played in 108 career games with the Moose from 2004 to 2006. He was named to the American Hockey League's All-Rookie Team in 2005. He has 15 career AHL goals and 47 career AHL assists for 62 points and 267 penalty minutes.

Bieksa was originally drafted by the Canucks in the fourth round, 151st overall, in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
