The Milwaukee Admirals shot down the Iowa Stars 5-4 in overtime tonight at Wells Fargo Arena. The Admirals scored 3 goals in the third period to send the game into overtime where they were able to beat the Stars goalie Tobias Stephan with one second remaining.

The Iowa Stars got off to a good start with a goal from rookie James Neal, his 9th on the season, at 4:47 in the first period. Marty Sertich and Trevor Byrne assisted on the play. The Admirals would come right back less than three minutes later with a goal by Bryan Schmidt assisted by Rich Peverly and Antii Philstrom.

The Iowa Stars notched their second goal in the first capping off a hard fought battle for the puck by Konstantin Pushkarev who then passed it back to Marty Sertich who sent the puck into the net at 11:58. The Stars headed into the first intermission with 3 shots on goal and a 66% scoring percentage. The Ads took 9 shots before heading to the locker room for first intermission.

The second period saw more offense from the Stars as Janos Vas scored his third goal of season against the Admirals, his 15th on the year at 5:32. Vas is the leading scorer for the Stars against the Ads this season. The lone assist on the goal went to BJ Crombeen for his 8th of the campaign.

Iowa would strike again before the end of the second with Dan Jancevski finding the back of the net for his second goal of the season with the Stars. The power play goal came off passes from Perttu Lindgren and BJ Crombeen.

With Iowa Stars fans chanting "We Want Fries" the Stars and Admirals headed into the third period with Milwaukee leading in shots 17-11, but trailing Iowa by 3 goals.

Milwaukee would pull to within one off goals from John Laliberte and Rich Peverly, notching his third point on the night and his team leading fourth goal against the Stars this season. Alex Henry sent the game into OT with less than a minute remaining in regulation.

Iowa played strong in the overtime considering they had only 3 skaters on the ice, as Neal sat in the penalty box after a tripping call at 3:30. The game looked to be heading for a shootout when Alexander Sulzer scored the final goal of the night with one second remaining in OT.

The Stars will take on the Chicago Wolves tomorrow at 7:07 PM at Wells Fargo Arena. Join the fun before the game with Stars and Bars. The Apprentice Hockey League's will take over the Court Ave. District for Task #2 where 2 finalist will move on to become the Iowa Stars first AHL winner!
