
Iowa Stars Announce Pink in the Rink

Des Moines, IA - The Iowa Stars today announced the details for the special Pink in the Rink event to be held Saturday, March 15th. All proceeds from the special event will benefit the John Stoddard Cancer Center at Iowa Methodist Medical Center.
The Iowa Stars and their division rivals, the Quad City Flames, will face off at 7:07 PM on pink ice! The Stars will wear specialty jerseys which will be auctioned off their backs live on the ice following the night's matchup.
A silent auction featuring all sports memorabilia will take place on the concourse before and during the game. Items such as a Peyton Manning autographed jersey, a Kurt Warner autographed 8x10 photo, a Zach Johnson autographed 8x10 photo and a Brett Favre autographed jersey will be available for fans to bid on.*
Pink in the Rink will be a special night for KIOA Chuck-A-Puck as well, as the prizes are super-sized and the price per puck increased by $1. Prizes for the night include:
Grand Prize:
- An team autographed Commemorative Pink in the Rink Player Jersey and pink autographed stick
Side Prizes:
- $50 gift certificate to any Full Court Press Location and 2 Suite tickets to Harlem Globetrotters at WFA March 30 and pink autographed stick
- $50 gift certificate to Court Ave Brewing and 2 suite tickets to Billy Joel at WFA on April 15 and a pink autographed stick
- Family dinner at Spaghetti Works and a family pack of Suite tickets to Doodlebops Live at WFA on April 6 and a pink autographed stick
- $50 gift certificate to Legend's American Grill and 2 suite tickets to Cirque du Soleil at WFA on April 10 and a pink autographed stick
Iowa Stars Pink in the Rink T-Shirts are currently on sale for $10 at www.iowastarshockey.com. Two different styles are available during the pre-sale which ends March 1st. After this date Pink in the Rink tees will only be available at the game on March 15th.
Even the Iowa Stars players are getting involved in the event! Other than wearing the specialty jersey, one Stars rookie will dye his hair pink for that night's game. Rookies Richard Clune, Ethan Graham, James Neal and Tommy Wandell are each candidates to âgo pink' for the night. Fans can help decide which rookie it is by casting their vote at the next Iowa Stars home game; just drop a donation into the fishbowls located at the Customer Service Booth. The player who collects the most money for the John Stoddard Cancer Center will dye his hair pink for the March 15th contest against Quad City. Fans may also vote in the online poll at www.iowastarshockey.com.
Fans in attendance for Pink in the Rink will receive pink pen lights courtesy of John Stoddard to be used during a special intermission ceremony. Fans will also be given mammogram reminder cards to mail to their loved ones in order to promote breast cancer awareness.
