A three goal outburst in the third period helped pace the San Antonio Rampage to a 4-2 win over the Peoria Rivermen Thursday night at the AT&T Center in Texas.

David Spina notched his second of the game just two minutes into the third period to kick off the scoring jag, followed by Bill Thomas' team-leading 23rd of the year at 16:04 and an empty net marker from Mike Zigomanis as the Rivermen tried to tie the game from a two goal deficit at 17:29.

Chris Porter was set up for a late goal by Derek Martin at 18:57 for the final count. Martin notched his first AHL point on the play.

Porter opened the scoring in the game by tipping a shot past Al Montoya in the San Antonio goal, re-directing Steve Wagner's wrist shot from the left point at 16:27 for a power play goal and his 10th of the season.

Spina found the net with a power play goal to even the score at 11:52 in the second period, as his shot went over the left shoulder of Ben Bishop through a screen.

Bishop finished with 33 saves in the loss for Peoria, and Montoya stopped 31 shots for the win.

With the victory San Antonio leaps over Houston and occupies third place in the AHL's West Division, while Peoria (79 points) still sits two points behind a potential playoff spot and a tie with the fifth place Milwaukee Admirals.

The Rivermen will now head to Houston to take on the Aeros at 7 pm on Friday night. The Rivermen Pre-Game Show with Tom Callahan kicks off one half-hour before game time on your Home for Rivermen Hockey, 96.5 ESPN Radio.
