Moose release Derlago from PTO

The Manitoba Moose, the AHL affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks, announced they have released forward Mark Derlago from his pro tryout contract. Derlago will now return to the Bakersfield Condors of the ECHL.

Derlago, 22, has played in four games with the Moose since signing his PTO on March 18/08. In that time, he has scored two goals and three assists for five points and two penalty minutes playing with leading scorer Brad Moran and Jannik Hansen. He scored his first goals in the AHL March 25/08 at Lake Erie. The Brandon, MB native has also played in 62 games so far this season with Condors where he currently leads the team with 30 goals. He also has 15 assists for 45 points and 63 penalty minutes. In 271 career games with the Brandon Wheat Kings of the WHL, Derlago scored 112 goals and 95 assists for 207 points and 173 penalty minutes. Derlago missed the entire 2004-05 season after suffering a neck injury in 2004. He then came back to lead the WHL in goal scoring in 2006-07 with 46 goals and his 81 points finished 10th in the league in overall scoring.
