Flames Announce Plans For 2007-08 Player Awards

Moline, IL- The Quad City Flames announced today that the team will present individual player awards prior to the team's final home game of the regular season on April 11th vs. Iowa. The nine awards presented will include acknowledgment of the team's Most Valuable Player, Fan's Favorite Player and Rookie of the Year.

Fans will have a chance to recognize their favorite 2007-08 Flame. An on-line poll is open now at http://www.qcflames.com/fanzone/poll.php. Fans are invited to select their favorite player from the current roster. The winner will be presented with the Fan Favorite Award during the pre-game ceremony on April 11th.

In addition to the Fan Favorite Award, the organization will present Most Improved Player, Rookie of the Year, Defenseman of the Year, Leading Scorer and Most Valuable Player. The Media Award will be selected by members of the local media and will recognize the individual that was most cooperative and available to the media. The Jim Kohley Memorial Award is named for the late Jim Kohley, an off-ice official for Quad City hockey teams from 1996 through 2002. The award recognizes players that exemplify the hard work and dedication that Kohley brought to his position as an off-ice official. The Star Player Award is given to the player that has been recognized the most times during the team's post-game three star ceremony.

The Quad City Flames continue their push for a spot in the 2008 Calder Cup Playoffs on Friday night in Des Moines vs. the Iowa Stars. Game time is 7:07 p.m. Fans in the Quad Cities can watch the games live at b2 Viewing Parties at Parkside Grill and Lounge in Moline or at Bleacher Bums in Davenport. The game can be heard on 93.9 FM WYEC beginning at 6:40 p.m. with the Hayman's Ace Hardware Pre-Game Show. After the game, the Kinetic Fitness Post-Game Show is on the air.

The Flames face Milwaukee at the i wireless Center at 7:05 p.m. on Saturday night. It's Soup-er Saturday presented by Hy-Vee. Fans will receive a voucher for a $10 lower bowl ticket to Saturday's game when they donate three non-perishable Hy-Vee food items to the River Bend Food Bank prior to the game. Donation will be accepted at the i wireless Center on game day or at the Flames offices prior to game day.
