Adirondack Phantoms News Release

PHILADELPHIA - The Philadelphia Phantoms are proud to announce that center Jared Ross has been named the team's winner of the American Specialty/AHL Man of the Year award for his outstanding contributions to the Philadelphia community during the 2007-08 season.

A leader on and off the ice, Ross was the captain for the Phantoms school reading program in February. This took place with 21 separate player appearances throughout Greater Philadelphia and South Jersey. Ross made sure his teammates all participated and was an eager participant himself, appearing at four schools. Ross has also made appearances at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, enlightened special needs children at a recent practice and has appeared on behalf of the Phantoms at local tournaments.

In recognition of his efforts, Ross will be presented with an etched crystal trophy during an on-ice presentation prior to an upcoming Phantoms home game.

Ross is now one of 29 finalists for the AHL's 2007-08 Yanick Dupre Memorial Award, honoring the overall American Specialty/AHL Man of the Year. The league award is named after the former Hershey Bears forward and AHL All-Star who died in 1997 following a 16-month battle with leukemia. The winner of the Yanick Dupre Memorial Award will be announced by the AHL in the coming weeks.

The Phantoms are home for two games this weekend. On Friday, the Binghamton Senators come to the Wachovia Spectrum at 7:05. After the game, kids 14 and under who bring their own skates are invited to skate with the Phantoms on the Spectrum ice. On Sunday, the Phantoms will induct Bob Clarke into the Phantoms Hall of Fame prior to the 5:05 faceoff against the Hamilton Bulldogs. Tickets for both games and all remaining Phantoms home games are available at the Wachovia Complex box office, online at ComcastTIX.com or phantomshockey.com, or by phone at 1-800-298-4200.
