Wichita Thunder News Release
Wichita, KS (December 11th) - The Wichita Thunder, proud member of the ECHL and powered by Toyota, will once again show its support for community members in need by helping ring bells at Salvation Army red kettles on Tuesday, December 16th.
Thunder players will join Thunderdog and the Lightning Dance Team at red kettles to help raise donations for this great cause. The players will be at the Walmart location at 21st and Maize Road from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Players will be happy to sign autographs for the fans during these times.
"Donations to the red kettles help us meet the immediate needs of families and individuals during the holidays and also fund programs all year long. Last year, the Salvation Army touched the lives of nearly 50,000 individuals in the Wichita community," said Glen Caddy, Major and Wichita City Commander with The Salvation Army.
"We thank the Wichita Thunder for supporting us at the red kettles," Caddy continued. "We also appreciate the support from the businesses that allow us to have our red kettles at their locations."
The Salvation Army has been supporting those in need since 1865. Nearly 30 million Americans receive assistance from The Salvation Army each year through the broadest array of social services that range from providing food for the hungry, relief for disaster victims, assistance for the disabled, outreach to the elderly and ill, clothing and shelter to the homeless and opportunities for underprivileged children. About 82 cents of every dollar raised is used to support those services in nearly 5,000 communities nationwide. Anyone interested in participating in ringing the bells at red kettles can call 316-263-2769 or log onto www.missionofhope.salvationarmy.us.
Individual tickets are on sale now. Don't delay! Tickets can be purchased at the INTRUST Arena Box office, by calling 755-SEAT or go online at www.selectaseat.com. Stay up-to-date on all the news during the season by visiting www.wichitathunder.com.
