Allen Americans News Release
Allen, TX - After battling the Mallards all night, Americans come out on top in the end, 5-2 over Quad City at Allen Event Center, Allen's 15th win of the season, and they remain four points ahead of Tulsa in the ECHL Central Division.
Jack Combs led the way for Allen, scoring four of the five goals to earn a hat trick plus one. Combs 14th, 15th, 16th and 17th of the season, he leads the ECHL in goals and points. Chad Costello assisted on three of Combs four goals to earn the second star of the night.
"Jack was unbelievable tonight," said Costello. "He was fun to watch, and this was a huge win for us."
Justin Baker scored the other goal for Allen, his 5th of the season and he assisted on Combs fourth of the night. Jack Combs has 37 points in 20 games for Allen and a six point lead over teammate Chad Costello, who is second overall in the league in scoring with 31 points.
"I think our team is doing really good, that's the most important part and all the goals are just a bonus for it. I just want to keep the train rolling on our home streak, we all love getting to play in front of the fans and we know they love to see a good win," Combs said.
Both Quad City goals came from Kevin Baker, his third and fourth of the season, while goaltender Evan Mosher was impressive in net despite giving up five goals. Mosher made big save after big save throughout the night, but the Americans offense proved to be too much for the Mallards who fall to 8-8-3-2 and remain in 4 th place in the Central Division.
The Americans take tomorrow and Friday off and return to action on Saturday night at home against the Brampton Beast at 7:05 pm . Tickets for that contest are on sale at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling (972) 912-1000 .
