Elmira Jackals News Release
ORLANDO, FL - December 11, 2014 - The Elmira Jackals, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's Buffalo Sabres and AHL's Rochester Americans, finish their Florida road trip tonight with their final visit to the Amway Center.
WHO: Elmira Jackals - Buffalo/NHL & Rochester/AHL (13-8-3) at Orlando Solar Bears - Toronto/NHL & Toronto/AHL (11-11-2)
WHAT: Jackals Away Game #10.
WHEN: 7:00 p.m. EST
WHERE: Amway Center - 8701 Maitland Summit Blvd. Orlando, FL 32810
The Jackals face the Solar Bears tonight for the final meeting this season and the second at the Amway Center. These two East Division foes played just two days ago in their first season meeting. The Jackals jumped on Orlando, which was returning from a month-long road trip, and potted two goals in the first period. Kellan Tochkin buried his first as a Jackal and Taylor Stefishen scored a shorthanded marker in the opening stanza. Jackals captain Matt Tassone added another goal early in the second period, which chased Orlando netminder, Kent Patterson, from the game. The Solar Bears added one in the second frame and pressed in the third, out-shooting the Jackals 17-2. However, Sam Marotta stonewalled the Solar Bears and denied 40 of 41 shots faced for the victory.
Jackals captain Matt Tassone leads the team with 11 goals and is tied for the team-lead with 18 points, despite playing in just 14 of the team's 24 games. Tassone is third in the league with a 28.9% shooting percentage (11-for-38). The St. Albert, Alberta native has goals in three consecutive games.
