Eagles Suffer Tough 4-2 Loss to Thunder

LOVELAND, Colo. - The Colorado Eagles (11-8-0-0) outshot the Thunder 41-23, but Stockton (10-12-1-0) came away with the 4-2 victory on Wednesday evening at the Budweiser Events Center.

Eagles forward Brock Nixon scored the game's first goal, off of a wrap-around pass from linemate Greg Gardner 3:59 into the first frame to give Colorado the early 1-0 advantage. Stockton forward Jack MacLellan stuffed the puck past Eagles netminder Doug Carr to tie the game at 1-1 at the 7:01 mark in the first. Stockton forward Garet Hunt rifled home a goal on an odd-man rush to take the 2-1 lead with five minutes left in the first.

Stockton winger Ryan Hayes netted a laser over Carr's left shoulder to give the Thunder a 3-1 lead at 15:36 of the second. Nixon redirected a power play goal beating Simpson to make it a one-goal game 3-2 at 18:01 of the second period.

Stockton defenseman Keith Seabrook tossed a goal home on an empty net to put the game away for the Thunder at 4-2. Carr made 19 saves on 23 shots, while Simpson held off 39 of Colorado's 41 shots to finalize the 4-2 Stockton victory.
